Driver airlifted to Boston hospital after Brentwood crash

BRENTWOOD - A driver was airlifted to a Boston hospital after a crash in Brentwood on Friday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, on Route 125, at about 8:12 a.m.

Investigators said it appears a driver was traveling north on Route 125 and slowed to a stop, possibly to make a left hand turn into a local business.

Police said a 2011 Freightliner box truck, driven by William Newman, 44, of Raymond, also was traveling north on Route 125.

Investigators said the driver of the truck struck the rear of the other vehicle.

Newman was not hurt. The other driver was flown from the scene by a DART medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

Route 125 in this section was closed for approximately 3½ hours. Traffic was diverted around the accident scene via Crawley Falls Road.

The identity of the second driver involved, as well as the vehicle information, is being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.

Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact Trooper Thomas Conlon at (603) 223-8490.
