Dr. Ben Carson to NH1 Radio: 'I don't care even if I only have 1 term'

CONCORD - Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson says he's prepared to make the hard choices if he's elected president-even if it means a short stay in the White House.

"I don't care even if I have only one term," says Carson, "because you might have to do things that are unpopular, because sometimes sacrifice is involved."

The accomplished neurosurgeon, a veteran of thousands of procedures, says of his lack of political experience "my life has been centered around solving complex problems, and we've got some complex problems [in America]. Traditional politics just doesn't seem necessarily to always do the job."

Carson's one of 15 declared Republican presidential candidates, with still others hoping to enter the field. He tells NH1 Radio that he hopes to stand out from the field through his life experience, rather than relying on his political experience.

While health care and veterans' health programs were main topics of the conversation, he also weighed in on the financial crisis in Greece, saying "There's an excellent lesson to be learned, and that is: You just cannot continue to live on borrowed money".

Carson is campaigning in New Hampshire today with his wife Candy on their 40th wedding anniversary. Carson says he and his wife celebrated privately on Sunday, but a public celebration is scheduled for this evening in Nashua at the Crowne Plaza.
