DOVER - When Elizabeth Frost was a little girl, she lost everything she owned in a fire at her parent's home.
Decades later, it has happened again at her Gerrish Road home in Dover.
"I was running to see what I could grab, but you really can't grab (anything)," Frost said.
Frost examined the damage, and welcomed our NH1 News cameras inside her destroyed home on Friday.
The few photos she has left are covered in black soot, and the walls of the kitchen she just repainted have been destroyed.
"We've put in a lot since my husband passed away. We've put a lot of money in here," Frost said.
Frost is now trying to salvage what she can. She was at home with her dog when the fire started.
Paul Arvenitis, of Colony Auto Co. in Dover, was driving by and saw the fire. He quickly called 911.
"I backed up when I went by, stopped my car, went around the back of the house and I did see the flames," Arvenitis said.
An off-duty firefighter, Capt. David Lindh Jr., also happened to be driving by when he saw the smoke.
"There was a lady right inside the doorway with her dog. We were able to get her out of the house," Lindh said.
Lindh rushed in to quickly help Frost escape and made sure everyone was out of the home.
"My girlfriend went back to the house and she grabbed a nice L.L. Bean jacket. A hat, a scarf and gloves and actually brought it down to the scene and gave it to the lady so she could be warm," Lindh said.
Frost said she is thankful for Lindh's quick thinking and actions.
She is currently looking for a new place to live, as she expects it will take more than five months to rebuild her home.
