Dover woman arrested after school officials notice daughter's injuries

DOVER - City police have arrested a woman after she allegedly injured her 9-year-old daughter.

Teressa Moody, 35, of 12 Hampshire Circle, turned herself in to police Wednesday morning and was charged with simple assault after an investigation that Lt. Brant Dolleman said took a few weeks.

Dolleman said police became involved on March 5 when officials at a public elementary school noticed the child had been hurt at home. Dolleman would not comment specifically about what happened to the girl but said simple assault injuries typically include bruises, scrapes and cuts.

Dolleman said that in situations such as this, the New Hampshire Division of Children, Youth and Families is contacted because police and school officials are mandated reporters if any sort of abuse is suspected. He said the girl is currently in a safe place.

Moody was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned at Dover Circuit Court on April 24.
