Dover police: Drug deal busted, man and woman facing charges

DOVER - Police arrested a man and a woman on drug charges Friday morning after getting a tip about a possible drug deal.

Police stopped a car on Silver Steet in Dover and identified the driver as Michael S. Mendoza, 32 of Rochester, and passenger Betsy A. Elliott, 21, who told police she was homeless.

Officers said Elliott was in possession of a powdered type of narcotics, cash, a digital scale and a hypodermic needle, and that Mendoza was found in possession of cash.

Both were arrested at the scene on a single count of possession of drugs with the intent to distribute.

Mendoza refused bail and was held on a parole violation. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.

Elliott was released on $5,000 personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned March 7.
