Dover PD investigating reports of man impersonating police officer

DOVER — Police are investigating reports of a man who may be impersonating a police officer in Dover on Tuesday.

He is described as being in his 40s or 50s and wearing a blue t-shirt displaying a police badge emblem. He reportedly drives a black Ford Fusion with New Hampshire registration and has a scar near his mouth.

On two occasions, police say they received complaints of the man described above following drivers and confronting them when they stop. Both times the man was reported saying the police department was “watching them.”

The Dover Police Department says that it does have unmarked vehicles, but that all officers carry proper credentials, including a metal badge and police identification.

They ask that anyone with information call them at (603) 742-4646 or anonymously at (603) 749-6000.
