PORTSMOUTH — A Dover man trotted to victory at this year's 5K on Thanksgiving morning.

Ben Finnigan was the winner of the eighth annual Seacoast Rotary Turkey Trot 5K with a time of 16 minutes and 9 seconds beating out 1,549 finishers, reports Fosters.

The 20-year-old attracted attention from Division I colleges after an outstanding sophomore year at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, but unfortunately, a tear in his abdominal wall prevented him from running in the next two seasons. He used his Thanksgiving break to get a little running done.

He used this race to gauge where he is in preparing for the 3K and mile for his indoor season. He wants to break 4:10 in the mile, and 8:25 for the 3K.
