Dover Man dies in motorcycle crash on Route 125 in Rochester

ROCHESTER — One man died and a woman was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Monday afternoon on Route 125.

Rochester police said Monday night Christopher Lapointe, 40, of 10 Mount Vernon Street in Dover was pronounced dead after being transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital from the scene of the accident. Lapointe's female passenger, Liana Rinaldi, 40, of 10 Mount Vernon Street in Dover, was injured. Police say both were wearing helmets.

Sgt. Jason Thomas said pair were on a 1990 Harley Davidson XLH 883 Sportster traveling south on Route 125 about 4:18 p.m. Monday when they veered into the southbound breakdown lane, struck a guardrail, and were thrown from the bike near the Rochester Country Club. Thomas said the motorcycle continued for quite a distance down the road after the crash.

Route 125 remained closed Monday night between Church Street and Gonic Road while police accident reconstruction team worked at the scene.

The accident is under further investigation.
