Dover driver charged with DUI after accident traps passenger

ROCHESTER – Firefighters had to use extraction tools to rescue a trapped passenger after a car struck a telephone poll on Tuesday.

John Davis of Dover was arrested and charged with felony DUI after he swerved onto the sidewalk and hit a pole on Washington Street.

37-year-old Sarah Taliaferro became trapped in the car before Rochester emergency crews rescued her.

Both Davis and Taliaferro were transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Taliaferro was later moved to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
