DOT says NH saw record traffic numbers driving on roads on July 4th

The July 4th holiday set a record for drivers on New Hampshire roadways. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation said it saw a one-day total of 313,577 vehicles.

The previous record of 283,927 was set in 2003, said DOT spokesman Bill Boynton.

Boynton said that wasn't the only recent record set. Traffic totals on New Hampshire roadways for Fiscal Year 2016 were slightly more than 118 million. This is 3 million more than the previous record of 115 million, which was set in Fiscal Year 2007.

Traffic numbers for the holiday weekend, from Friday through Monday, were up 3.4 percent in 2016 from 2015.
