Donald Trump's tax returns yet to be leaked or released - but here's why
For months now, Donald Trump has given the same answer over and over again about why he can't release his tax returns - he's being audited by the IRS.
But that case got crushed last week when his son Donald Trump Jr. gave a different reason, saying releasing the documents would just be "distracting."
While Trump insists that voters "don't care" about his tax returns, there is a large amount of people who do - Hillary Clinton included - according to the Washington Post.
According to tax experts and former IRS employees, tens of thousands of people have access to Trump's tax information. From revenue agents to customer service staff, they have access to a master computer that shows a summary of everyone's tax returns.
Many wonder why this information has not leaked yet, with so many people eager to get their paws on it.
One big reason? The leaking of confidential tax records is punishable by a $5,000 fine, up to five years in prison, or even both.
Many voters are skeptical that Trump isn't as "rich" as he says he is, and wonder if he actually pays his taxes.
But at the end of the day, it is a personal choice whether or not to release your tax records, and it seems that Trump will be keeping his on lock down for the time being.
