Dogs and their handlers compete for proficiency in obedience and protection in Concord
CONCORD - The IPO Regional Championship is being held from September 2-4 at White Park in Concord, New Hampshire.
The sport, traditionally called Schutzhund, is a competition of tracking, obedience and protection to see if a dog is worthy of breeding. Dogs and handlers come out to compete for the regional title before the national competition in California this year.
Regional Director Don Yelle said that the sport is becoming more popular in America, but if the event was in Germany it would be taking place in a filled soccer stadium.
The competition is open to the public.
