Dogs and owners can donate blood today in Manchester

MANCHESTER - Pets and their owners can donate blood today until 2 p.m. at Advanced Veterinary Care at 55 Carl Drive.

The Red Cross will have its van outside for human blood donations and AVC will be taking blood samples from dogs inside to screen for possible donors.

To donate a dog should have:

  • A calm disposition
  • A weight of at least 55 pounds
  • No history of having a litter
  • An age of 6 years old or younger
  • Not be on medication

Pets who donate 55 times a year will receive annual blood and fecal testing and an annual exam free of charge. All donors will receive a $35 to their account for each donation.
