CONCORD — A 140-year-old document signed by President Ulysses S. Grant that commemorates the centennial of the United States has been found in the N.H. Archives building.

The framed document, dated July 4, 1876, was unveiled and recognized by the N.H. House on Wednesday. It's more than 5-by-3 feet in size.

Franconia native and former state Rep. Stilson Hutchins presented N.H.'s copy of the document in 1885. Few copies of it exist.

The document was found last month as staff were clearing 30,000 boxes of records from shelves.
