Dive teams search for Nashua teen who may have fallen down storm drain in heavy rain

NASHUA — Police are investigating the possibility that a missing teen was swept into a storm drain Friday night during heavy rain.

Police responded to the area behind 75 Main Street and the north side of Water Street for a report of someone who may have fallen down a storm drain. No witnesses had seen anyone go down the drain, but personal items were found on the ground nearby. Nashua Fire Rescue, City of Nashua Waste Water Department and the City of Nashua Emergency Management all responded, but due to heavy water flow they could not figure out if someone had fallen.

Saturday morning at 8:48 a.m., police received a report of a missing juvenile, 16-year-old Jacob Goulet. Goulet has not been seen or heard from since he left a friend's house during the rain storm. A parent looked for him through the night, but could not find him.

Goulet is described as being a white male, 5’8” tall, 200 lbs., with black hair cut short on the sides, and long along the top of his head, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a denim vest with metal studs on it, a gray t-shirt, black shorts and black Converse All Star sneakers. He is a student at Nashua North High School.

The Nashua Police Department’s Patrol Division with assistance from the Nashua Police Department’s Dive Team and Detectives from the Special Investigations Division are overseeing the search.

Goulet likely would have passed the storm drain on the route he would have taken, police say. Video surveillance showed Goulet did have the found personal items in his possession on the walk home from his friend's house.

Police established a command post, and plan to search the Nashua River, Merrimack River, and the underwater storm drain system north of Water Street, and south of Sawmill Drive.

They will have more information at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
