Distinguished nurse passes away


CONCORD - Stephanie Murdough Riley of Concord passed away on Dec. 29 from lung cancer.

According to her obituary, Riley remained "strong and positive throughout the entire journey."

Riley served as a nurse in the United States Air Force after graduating from Boston College in 1988. In 2000, she joined the New Hampshire Air Guard and was deployed to Southeast Asia as part of operation Iraqi Freedom.

"Stephanie was a true citizen-soldier," said Maj. Gen. William Reddel, the adjutant general of the New Hampshire National Guard in her obituary.

Riley encourages all to seek regular check ups with a primary care physician in order to prevent such diseases as cancer from developing.

She is survivied by her husband, Shawn, and children, Shane and Samantha.
