Dispose of unwanted prescription drugs during take-back day this Saturday in NH

The 12th national prescription drug take back day will take place nation-wide Saturday, Oct. 22 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Drug Enforcement Administration's campaign to reduce the amount of unneeded prescription drugs in homes has been a major success since it's introduction in 2010.

During the most recent take-back day in May of 2016, 893,498 pounds of unwanted medicines were collected nation-wide and properly disposed of.

New Hampshire contributed 12,560 pounds that day.

According to the DEA, the majority of prescription drug abusers get their drugs from friends and family members. Disposing of leftover drugs reduces the chance of accidental use, theft and abuse.

Find out where the nearest collection site to you is on the DEA website.
