Disney World works with the creator of Avatar to expand theme park
Disney officials kicked off the weekend by offering a preview of what they are calling "the coolest summer ever."
Orlando's theme parks plan to double the size of Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom and changes are underway at Animal Kingdom allowing Disney to remain open at night for attractions like the Rivers of Light and Kilimanjaro's Safari.
"The largest element of our Animal Kingdom expansion is an entirely new land based on James Cameron's epic, Avatar, the number-one box-office film of all time," Walt Disney World's George Kalogridis said.
Based on the film, floating mountains, glowing forests and a banshee ride will be created by Disney's Imagineering team along with Cameron.
The expansion is expected to be completed by 2017.
