Discovery Center in Concord participates in 12th annual Smithsonian Magazine event

CONCORD — One of the Smithsonian Magazine's 12th annual Museum Day Live programs will take place Saturday at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord.

Participating museums across America will offer free general admission as part of this event. 200,000 people participated in last year’s Museum Day Live and they expect more to show up this year, according to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center's website.

The Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.

The Smithsonian is the world’s largest museum and research complex consisting of 20 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park and nine research facilities. Approximately 30 million people from around the world visit the Smithsonian annually, the Discovery center reports.
