Disabled war vet charged for purple heart license plates in NH

NH1.com

DOVER — A disabled World War II navy veteran says the state is charging him registration fees for his Purple Heart license plates, when he could get disabled veterans plates for free.

In 1945, 91-year-old Robert Lyons was seriously injured when a Kamikaze plane hit the destroyer he was on in Okinawa.

He takes great pride in his service and thinks Purple Heart plates for disabled veterans should also be free under state law.
