DEVELOPING: Manhunt underway in Manchester after two police officers shot
MANCHESTER - Two police officers have been shot in Manchester and a manhunt is underway for an armed suspect.
Police Chief Nick Willard said the officers are OK and is not releasing their names at this time.
Willard said the incident leading to the shootings started around 2 a.m. Friday. The first officer was shot in the area of Ferry and Second streets. That officer is stable at this time.
The second officer was shot in the area of Putnam and Dubuque streets.
One of the officers was taken to Catholic Medical Center and the other was taken to Elliot Hospital.
Police have asked residents to shelter in place for the area around Wayne Street, Putnam Street, and Rimmon streets and are asking West side residents to avoid leaving their homes.
Schools in the west end of Manchester as well as Granite State College's Manchester location are closed for the day because of the search.
CMC also has said access is limited at its facility until further notice.
