HAMPSTEAD - Officials said extremely poor road conditions because of snow was a major contributing factor in the death of a 31-year-old Derry woman.
Hampstead police said Lori Dawe’s vehicle was reported to have slid off the roadway and onto the shoulder in Hampstead on Tuesday evening.
According to police, Dawe got out of her car to make a phone call and was subsequently struck and killed by a 2006 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 17-year-old man.
Officials said the Jeep began to slip and lose traction when it struck Dawe, pinning her underneath.
She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Jeep’s driver was not reported to have been speeding and authorities said they found no evidence of drugs or alcohol.
The driver and his 19-year-old passenger were not injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
