Derry woman faces charges after police say she crashed pickup truck into house

DERRY - A 27-year-old Derry woman is facing numerous charges after police say she crashed a pickup truck into a house at 9 Fordway St. early Thursday morning and left the scene.

The two adults and a young child inside the house were not injured, but firefighters say the car struck a fence, traveled down an embankment and plowed into a deck, a shed and the side of the house. The large deck was knocked off its supports and the house sustained structural damage.

Police later arrested Lindsay Simon, of 33 Fordway Street. Simon is charged with driving while intoxicated, conduct after an accident, operating after suspension and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

She was being held on $1,500 cash bail.

Firefighters used struts and shoring to stabilize the home. The car was carefully removed and while the house can remain occupied, the deck has found unsafe for use. The deck has been cordoned off and the Derry building inspector notified, firefighters said.
