Derry teen arrested after his father gets stopped over road rage incident in Newburyport

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - An argument that started when a pedestrian defended a slow-moving driver ended in the arrest of a Derry teenager.

The Derry teen, Dylan Nelson was in a red truck when the driver, his father, started yelling at an elderly driver on Pleasant Street on Saturday. A female pedestrian who overheard the yelling, told the driver to be patient.

According to the newburyportnews.com, the driver then got angry with the pedestrian. Her husband, who was walking with her, came to her defense and the driver then challenged the man to a fight on the street.

The man declined to fight and he and his wife walked away, then notified police.

When police found the red truck and talked to the driver, his son, 19-year-old Dylan Nelson started swearing and pointing his finger at the officer. Nelson was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police say his father tried to calm his son down and helped police take him into custody.
