Derry police urging people to lock cars after 30 thefts in 2 weeks


DERRY – Residents in Derry are being urged to lock their car doors after more than 30 cars have been broken into in two weeks.

Loose change was a majority of the stolen items, however, cash and some prescription medications were also taken from purses inside the cars.

The reported break-ins occurred after midnight on Wentworth Lane, Norton Street, Kristin Drive, Derryfield Road, Lenox Road, Mt. Pleasant Street, Franklin Street, Halls Village Road, Adams Pond Road and Dexter Avenue.

Police say all of the vehicles were left unlocked.
