Derry police investigate racially-motivated vandalism
DERRY — Police are investigating a series of crimes that appear to be racially motivated on Scobie Pond Road.
The most recent was discovered today, when police answered a call about criminal mischief after family members awoke to discover that someone had thrown food, and smashed eggs on their car.
Someone only described by reports as a person of color lives at the residence, and seemed to be the target of the vandalism.
Previously, on Oct. 24, the residents discovered a sign placed at the end of their driveway with racial slurs on it. Before that, on Oct. 21, the family discovered racial slurs etched into the paint of a vehicle with a sharp object.
Police say these incidents are out of character for the community, and they are continuing to investigate.
