Derry fire department proposes 12 percent increase in ambulance fees

DERRY - Ambulance transport fees in Derry would increase by 12 percent under a new proposal by the Derry Fire Department.

EMS Director Charles Hemeon said Derry charges far less than other communities for the same service, according to the Union Leader.

The increase would primarily have an impact on two groups: those who have insurance, and those who pay for services themselves.

Medicare participants would not be affected because ambulance rides are covered by the plan.

There will be a public hearing for the proposal on Aug. 16 for 7:30 p.m. in the third floor of the municipal center.
