Derry Councilors face more blowback over fire station closure
DERRY - The controversy over a town council decision to eliminate a fire station and cut police and firefighters continues.
Derry firefighters are fighting back on Facebook.
They have posted photos of the town councilors allegedly dining out before the meeting.
They also said on Facebook that they were so busy on Wednesday night they had to ask for mutual aid from Windham and turn down three requests from other towns for mutual aid.
The council voted earlier this week to shut down Derry Fire Station 4 in July and reduce staff.
The move is expected to cut taxes by $2 per thousand of assessed property value.
