Democrat Kuster releases statement after winning 3rd term for US House
CONCORD— Rep. Annie Kuster released the following statement on the announcement that she has been reelected to a third term as the U.S. Representative for New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District. Her reelection makes her the first Democrat to win a third term in New Hampshire’s Second Congressional seat since 1853.
“In my time serving in Congress, I’ve focused on working across the aisle to improve opportunity for all Granite Staters. Working with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to achieve real results, that’s the New Hampshire way."
She thanked her opponent, Jim Lawrence, for a spirited debate and an honorable campaign focused on the issues. Kuster also thanked her family for their support, volunteers for their door knocks and phone calls, and all of the voters.
“While we have accomplished a great deal, there is still important work to be done. I’m committed to bringing together Republicans and Democrats to get the much needed funding to support those on the frontlines of the opioid epidemic and to improve access to high-quality healthcare for our veterans," Kuster said, "We also need to make sure students can get the education they need to succeed without being crushed by college debt. We must create jobs and grow our economy. And it’s long past time we changed the culture around sexual assault in our nation. I look forward to continuing my work on these critical issues facing the Granite State."
“I’m humbled by the faith you have put in me. I’m committed to the task at hand, and I look forward to continuing to fight for you in Washington.”
