NASHUA - The Nashua Police department identifies the little girl who died Tuesday in Nashua as three year old Brielle Gage.
Just after 11:30 Tuesday, a 911 call for help went out. The child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but died shortly after.
"Jeffery A. Strelzin, Senior Asst. Attorney General said, "The Nashua Police Department is determining our investigation of the circumstances involved in the child's death. Right now it's determined as a suspicious death."
Crime scene tape surrounds the home at 14 Oak Street.
Neighbor Sara Hatch said, "They pretty much stay inside and don't play at all. I didn't even know there were younger kids until a few months ago when they all got taken away."
25 year old Katlyn Marin and her boyfriend 30 year old Michael Rivera were arrested back in may... accused of assaulting 2 children.
According to court documents, the state Division of Children, Youth and Families contacted Nashua Police saying one of Marin's children had bruises all over his body. The indictment says the child was hit with a belt.
Marin and Rivera claimed the bruises came from the kids fighting with each other.
Five children, from 9 months to 8 years old, were removed from the home and put in foster care, but a juvenile court judge gave custody of the children back to Marin.
We asked D.C.Y.F. how this could happen. The department says the court has the final say.
D.C.Y.F. Acting Director Lorraine Bartlett said, "Not only do we have to return the children home, we don't have any authority to compel the parents to work with services."
So far no one has been arrested, and officials aren't saying if Tuesday's suspicious death and the arrests in May are related.
Meanwhile, down the street at 119 Walnut, police put crime scene tape up around that house late Tuesday night after interviewing a person there. Police are not commenting on that development.
