Data finds bomb threats on the rise in U.S.; NH threats significantly increasing

DOVER — In the wake of recent bomb threats at Dover and Oyster River Cooperative school districts, data has found that bomb threats throughout the country have been on the rise.

The two seacoast school districts each experienced multiple bomb threats this year, all of which were written on bathroom walls and have left students, parents and staff on the edge.

Seacoastonline reported that according to the Educator's School Safety Network, threats like these have been on the rise since 2011. The national nonprofit reported that since November 2011, there has been an increase in bomb incidents of 1,461 percent.

Amy Klinger, co-founder and director of programs at ESSN, said that trend is continuing. She noted New Hampshire has had some of the most significant increases in reported bomb threats so far in the 2016-17 school year.
