Dartmouth Medical School employment statuses to change

The Associated Press

HANOVER (AP) — Employees at Dartmouth College's Geisel School of Medicine will find out next week how the school's restructuring measures aimed at reducing its deficit will affect their employment status.

The Valley News reports employees will learn whether they will be unemployed, required to start over as Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center employees or remain in their positions. An email sent Tuesday indicated hundreds will be affected.

The email signed by Interim Dean Duane Compton says that department chairs and human resources staffers will meet with employees whose status will change starting April 18.

Those who are changing status will be sent a letter. The job status changes will take effect June 30.

Officials have said that the majority of people whose jobs are cut from Dartmouth will get offers from Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
