Dangerous felon wanted in Tilton armed robbery arrested in Florida

TILTON - A dangerous fugitive from Laconia has been arrested in Florida and charged with robberies in Mississippi and Florida, as well as the June 9 armed robbery of the Tilton Shop Express on Laconia Road.

The Laconia Citizen reported Ryan Cheney, 40, of Loudon was arrested last week in Penscola, Fla.

Tilton Police Chief Robert Cormier said Cheney has been on the run since the Tilton Shop Express robbery, taking off in a rented U-Hall to Florida. Police identified Cheney and an accomplice in an armed robbery Tuesday in Mississippi, and another armed robbery Thursday where shots were fired in Pensacola, Fla. Police arrested Cheney at a nearby hotel.

Cheney also was arrested May 21 for driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled drug, driving after being declared a habitual offender and was cited for speeding and a yellow-line violation. He was free on bail and waiting a court date from that arrest when he was arrested in Laconia on June 6.
