Cycle the Seacoast brings in $75k for American Lung Association

PORTSMOUTH - More than 350 bicyclists took to Seacoast roads this morning and raised $75,000 for the American Lung Association.

One of those riding in the "Cycle the Seacoast" event today was Eric Bergeson. He is 74 and fighting Stage IV lung cancer. His group of riders "Bergie & Friends" raised over $5,700 for the event.

"I started doing this ride even before I was diagnosed with lung cancer," Bergeson said. "I'm doing it today with my daughter."

Cycle the Seacoast is a one-day cycling event in New England with 25-, 50-, and 100-mile route options through the historic Seacoast region of New Hampshire. More than 100 volunteers staff the event which takes off and ends at Redhook Brewery. NH1 News is a proud sponsor of the event.
