This Woman Had Her 4-Year-Old Son in Her Vehicle When She Overdosed, Police Say
MANCHESTER — A Massachusetts woman overdosed in her vehicle with her 4-year-old son "passed out" in the back seat, police said.
Rescue crews responded to a report of an overdose inside a parked minivan on Wilson Street at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday.
When they arrived, they found Sara Donlon, 34, of Dracut, Massachusetts, unconscious in the driver's seat with a hypodermic needle on her lap, police said. The 4-year-old boy was in the back seat unconscious.
Crews gave Donlon two doses of Narcan while her son was taken to a local hospital. Officers also found a small bag of heroin and a small bag of cocaine on Donlon, police said.
Police said the two likely were inside the vehicle for at least an hour with the windows rolled up while the temperatures reached 86 degrees.
Police arrested Donlon and charged her with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned June 6 in Manchester district court.
After a checkup, the 4-year-old was found to be OK and was placed into custody with his father.
