Special Delivery of Theft Charges for Woman Accused of Stealing Packages
MERRIMACK — A Massachusetts woman was arrested Thursday in connection to an ongoing investigation into stolen packages from a Merrimack apartment complex.
Melanie Klier, 40, of Charleton, Mass., has been wanted since last June.
Klier was charged with three counts of theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly stealing packages from the Bowers Landing Apartment complex in the south end of Merrimack.
Late last spring, police said they received complaints from residents who had packages disappear after the tracking on the packages showed they had been delivered.
After conducting interviews and working with the apartment complex’s management personnel, police said officers executed a search warrant on a former tenant’s apartment where Klier had been temporarily staying.
Police said the officers recovered some of the items that had been reported stolen.
Klier was arrested in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Jan. 11 and waived extradition back to New Hampshire. She was then brought to the Nashua Police Department and booked on felony burglary charges and eventually to the Merrimack Police Department for processing.
She is being held on $50,000 cash bail out of Nashua and was scheduled to be arraigned in the Merrimack district court Friday.
