Best Case Scenario – It’s Soda: Man Leaves Bottle with Brown Liquid in Goffstown Police Lobby Prompting Lockdown
UPDATE 4:01 P.M. MONDAY: Police have identified and interviewed the suspect. It has been determined that the public is not at risk.
GOFFSTOWN — Police are investigating after a suspicious bottle was left in the lobby of the police department around 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
Video surveillance shows a young man approaching the police station carrying what appears to be a 12-ounce soda bottle containing a brown liquid. Once inside the man put the bottle on a table with a note "suggesting the bottle contained a hazardous material," police said.
The man then left without speaking to anyone.
The police department was temporarily placed in lockdown until the New Hampshire State Police Explosives Disposal Unit responded and tested the contents of the bottle. They found the contents were safe and the lobby was reopened.
Officials say further testing will determine what the brown liquid is.
The suspect was driving a dark gray Honda Accord with New Hampshire license plates. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt, gray sweatpants with a large Calvin Klein logo on the left leg as well as red and black sneakers. Anyone who knows the identity of this suspect is encouraged to call Goffstown police.
