Crews carry injured hiker off Mount Moriah

BEAN'S PURCHASE (AP) — New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say an injured hiker was carried off Mount Moriah.

Officials say 41-year-old Anne Ellis, of Newmarket, was hiking with friends and family when she slipped and fell on the Carter-Moriah Trail at around 2:20 p.m. Saturday. She suffered a lower-leg injury.

Almost two-dozen volunteers responded to the call for assistance.

Rescue crews began carrying Ellis down the mountain just before 8 p.m. They arrived at the trailhead at about midnight.

Ellis was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for treatment.
