Crash victims rescued from flaming car in Milton, driver injured

The Associated Press

MILTON (AP) — A motorist suffered serious burns after he and a passenger were pulled from a crashed pickup truck in Milton after it burst into flames.

Police responded to the scene along state Route 125 around 11:30 a.m. Monday after a Dodge 1500 hauling a small trailer left the roadway and struck a tree.

Police Chief Richard Krauss says officers arrived to find the vehicle totally engulfed. A woman passenger was able to escape the flaming wreckage with the help of police and bystanders.

The man driving the truck was trapped inside and needed to be extricated by firefighters. He was airlifted to a Boston hospital's burn unit.

Krauss says it's too early to know if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. The victim's identities weren't released.
