Court grants permission for 2nd autopsy to be performed on 'Baby Doe' Bella Bond
BOSTON, Mass., - In a court hearing Tuesday, defense attorneys were granted permission to conduct a second autopsy of the 2-year-old girl whose body was found in a garbage bag on Deer Island in June.
Rachelle Bond and her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy appeared in Dorcester Municipal Court Tuesday morning.
Attorneys hope a second autopsy will give more clues as to Baby Bella's cause of death.
McCarthy, who has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge is being held without bail in the case.
Bond is charged with being an accessory after the fact in the death of her daughter, who officials said was kept in a refrigerator before being dumped on the Boston Harbor island.
Bond has plead not guilty and is being held on $1 million cash bail.
