Conway fire chief jumps in, saves young boy going over waterfall
CONWAY - A 14-year-old boy had to be rescued after strong currents dragged him downstream in Swift River.
Conway Fire and Rescue crews responded to a call Monday morning and when they arrived found the boy holding on just above the falls.
Conway Fire Chief Stephen Soloman is trained to do this type of rescue.
He said the only chance of getting the kid out was to hold on to him. He got to the kid, told the kid to hold on - and then told him they were going to go over the falls.
Soloman said he's gone over the falls before and knew how to land in the current.
The boy was uninjured.
