MERRIMACK - Get ready for more construction around the Merrimack Premium Outlets.
The Monahan Companies of Nashua has presented plans for the entrance area that includes a hotel, retail space and apartments. The plans call for four separate buildings, including a multi-story parking garage with about 1,000 spaces.
The planning board got a first look at the plans Tuesday night. The proposal is similar to the Portwalk Place in Portsmouth according to the developers who say it will serve a need in the area.
The Telegraph of Nashua reports major companies such as Fidelity Investments, BAE Systems and Atrium Medical Corp have expressed a need for a conference center and hotel.
In November the zoning board granted three variances to allow the project to move forward. If approved construction is expected to take place in phases over a 5 to 7 year period, and could add $1 million in tax revenue each year for Merrimack.
Additional meetings with the planning board will be scheduled, and a public hearing take place once a formal site plan and traffic study is submitted.
