Concord woman wakes up to find stranger in her bedroom
CONCORD - A Concord woman awoke Thursday morning to an unknown male in her home on Fairfield Drive.
According to police, the woman said she had woken up and found the man, who identified himself as James, standing in her bedroom. He told her he was looking for work and that when he found her door open he went in to check on her welfare.
According to police when the man left, the woman found her purse on the floor and money and a debit card missing.
The woman called police and described the man as a white male in his early twenties, wearing a black baseball cap, and black sweatshirt with pink lettering. Police found a man matching that description a short time later. The woman was able to positively identify him as the person who was in her home.
The man, 21 year-old James Gagne was arrested and charged with felony burglary as well as felony drug possession (heroin and cocaine).
He was arraigned in Concord District Court Friday morning.
He is now being investigated for several other burglaries in the Concord area. Police say they believe Gagne goes door-to-door asking for work and robs unsuspecting homeowners when they are not looking. More charges are pending.
