Concord's Corner View Restaurant to close Saturday

CONCORD - A longtime eatery in the city will close at the end of the day on Saturday.

The Corner View Restaurant, once the site of the Landmark Restaurant, will change hands and eventually reopen as a third location for Tucker's. Tucker's has locations in Hooksett and New London.

Art Thomas, owner of the Corner View, told the Concord Monitor that his father, Paul, bought the property where the restaurant sits in 1940. Paul Thomas was a Greek immigrant who owned grocery stores and restaurants. He opened the Landmark Restaurant on the corner of South and Clinton streets in 1979.

Eventually, the Thomas family turned the Landmark over to another Greek family. When those owners decided to move on in 1996, Thomas returned to the business and opened the Corner View.

Thomas plans to retire.
