Concord police say they are investigating 2 incidents that may be linked

CONCORD - Police say there may be a connection between the report of an attempted robbery at Wal-Mart and a driver who hit several parked cars on South Street.

According to the Concord Monitor, the driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to Concord Hospital for observation on Friday night.

The Monitor reports that an assistant store manager at Wal-Mart said Friday that employees called the police around 8 p.m. saying a customer in the parking lot was threatening to rob people with a shotgun, though it's not clear whether a weapon was displayed. The damage to the cars on South Street near Perley Street followed shortly thereafter.

Police say the two incidents remain under investigation and additional information may be forthcoming on Monday.
