Concord Market Days preparation work underway for Thursday kick-off
CONCORD - Thursday is the official kick-off of Concord's Market Days Festival, but the preparation work for the big event has been going on all week.
“We have to get more cheese and more boxes," said Cody Goff of Checkmate Pizza. "It's pretty much more of everything else. It’s incredible and it's pretty much taken all week to get ready for the three days of market days."
In the next three days, Checkmate Pizza said they're expecting to make about 500 pizzas.
Checkmate will be just one of the vendors on North Main Street, though. Companies and business from across the area will set up too.
However, Market Days comes during a time that Concord is redesigning Main Street.
But officials planned this year's festival around the construction, and the street is expected to be clear of most construction equipment.
“We accelerated our schedule, and we accelerated Market Days to the last weekend in June," said Tim Schaaff, the Project Superintendent. "We’re about 95% complete on this side (of Main Street).”
Cones will still be up along the sidewalks, marking trip hazards for people walking by.
Construction is set to begin on the Southbound side of North Main Street in July.
