CAMPTON — Composer, musician and writer Ben Cosgrove has been chosen as the artist in residence for the White Mountain National Forest this year.

Cosgrove, who is based in Massachusetts and has studied in Vermont and Maine, has produced four full-length albums of original compositions inspired by geography. He has also composed scores for short films, documentaries, radio segments and theatrical productions.

Cosgrove will spend the month of September in the forest. He will be staying at Mead Base in Center Sandwich, and hike and camp throughout the forest.

"Throughout the summer and early fall I'll be wandering the trails and making new music designed to engage with that region's unique and compelling history and landscape," Cosgrove posted on his Facebook page.
