Companies have been contacted in connection to PFOA contamination
MERRIMACK — New Hampshire state officials contacted 44 companies statewide, six in Merrimack, that may have used or currently use perfluorinated chemicals, according to the Union Leader.
The state Department of Environmental Services is reaching out to companies, other than Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, to determine the use of PFC and PFOA in New Hampshire.
The Hazardous Waste Management Bureau, Air Resources Division and DES compliance inspectors have identified these 44 companies as those that may be using PFC compounds at some point.
The Merrimack based company, Saint-Gobain, was identified as a likely source of water contamination in southern New Hampshire. Other companies that have been contacted in regards to the contamination include, Harcros Chemical Corp., North Country Wire, Tech NH, Texas Instruments and WesBell Electronics.
