Commuters beware: Manchester roads to be closed through night following sinkhole, burst pipe
MANCHESTER - Manchester Water Works officials will be working through the night on a road that was destroyed by a burst pipe from the 1950's.
Water rushed down South Beech St. toward Brown Ave beginning around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials shut down an intersection, dug up the road and located the burst pipe. By 6 p.m. crews had fixed the problem area and had begun closing the sinkhole formed by the rushing water.
Work is expected to continue in the overnight hours as further repairs are made in the area.
Water is expected to be flowing back into affected homes by this evening.
Commuters headed to the airport should take 293 north or south to exit 2, Brown Avenue.
