Community members rally to support victims of Bedford house fire
BEDFORD — While fire officials continue to investigate the cause of last week’s blaze that destroyed a home on Burleigh Terrace, the community is rallying behind the fire victims — a family of five.
On Dec. 1, a massive fire destroyed the Sandhu residence at 4 Burleigh Terrace. Fire officials say the damage was extensive, and the building will likely need to be razed.
And now the community is rallying behind the family, according to the Union Leader.
“The community support has been really touching and overwhelming. People are understanding the loss and reaching out,” said Dianne Bzik, a family friend of the Sandhu family.
The Sandhus are grateful for all of the support from the residents of Bedford, according to Bzik.
Although the fire still remains under investigation, it does not appear suspicious. The roof was significantly damaged, as well as the upper level of the home.
“They are trying to salvage items from their home, and they are getting started with rebuilding,” said Bzik.
Most importantly, she said, the town of Bedford has stood behind the Sandhus during this trying time.
Friends and family plan to gather this weekend for an event to share memories with the Sandhus, and also to decorate a tree with gift cards that will be used to help the family begin a new chapter in their lives.
